In Reggie’s words
Why We Started Maui’s Most Personal Lei Greeting Service
My first trip to Maui, Hawaiʻi in May of 1986 was a turning point in my life. I had been working on a psychiatric unit for veterans with PTSD and was feeling burned out. The moment I arrived on Maui, I felt a deep sense of peace and relaxation. The island’s small population (67,000 at the time) and charming atmosphere were a respite from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
What struck me the most, however, was the kindness and generosity of the people I met. They were genuinely friendly and welcoming, without expecting anything in return. As I explored the island, I began to fall in love with its people, culture and way of life.
“It’s a small gesture, but one that brings so much joy and aloha spirit to those who experience it.”
When I returned to Los Angeles, I started making plans to move to Maui. With the help of an uncle who already lived on the island, I was able to make the transition smoothly. Over the past 40 years I’ve had the privilege of welcoming many friends and family members to Maui with a traditional lei greeting.
My goal is to share this same spirit with visitors from around the world through my lei greeting service.

…I put in our flight information and how many of us there would be and then shortly after placing the order, I received a kind phone call to confirm the details from Reggie and he explained where we would see him once we arrived. The day of our arrival, I received another text to let us know he would be waiting for us just past baggage claim.
